“Nothing is True, Everything is Permitted” The phrase that is known to fans of the series as the Creed’s maxim and primary guideline. Assassin’s Creed: Origins is set for release on October 27th. so here is a look back on the franchise.
Assassn’s Creed is a game that was first being developed to be a spin-off of Ubisoft’s popular franchise Prince of Persia. However, that idea was abandoned and the game was released as its own title and the rest was history, with many games since 2007 and a movie adaptation in 2016.
The games focus on the story of the fight for peace between the Assassins and their mortal enemies the Templars. In the original game, the player experiences two timelines, the Modern day, and the Historical events.
The first Assassin’s Creed game was released in 2007. The modern day story takes place in 2012, and it introduced us to modern day protagonist Desmond Miles. The game is also the first time we saw the first version of the Animus, The device created by Abstergo Industries allowing them to access memories stored in the genetic code of an individual. The historic part of the game takes place during the third crusade. In it, we got introduced to Altaïr Ibn-La’Ahad and the most iconic weapon of the series The Hidden Blade. Lastly, we got introduced to the Apple of Eden, an ancient artifact which can be used to strip people’s free will. The Apple of Eden is one of the artifacts, known as Pieces of Eden, left by the First Civilization. We still don’t know much about the First Civilization, but I presume more will be revealed in Origins.
